What is open now
On 16 October 2026 the PSC portal listed 10 adverts for the State Department for Mining, advertised on 13 October 2026 and closing on 2 November 2026 at 5.00 pm. The Commission's advert gives 93 posts in total and invites applications from serving officers. The portal labels one post, Plant Operator III, as open, but the advert document restricts all the posts to serving officers, so read the advert before applying.
The larger general advert, “Vacant Positions in the Public Service” of 22 September 2026, closed on 13 October 2026. PSC publishes new adverts through the year, so check the portal's Active Adverts list rather than relying on a date you read elsewhere.
How to register and apply
These steps follow PSC's own Quick Guiding Steps on the portal:
- Register on psckjobs.go.ke with your ID or passport number, surname, a current email address and a password.
- Log in with your ID or passport number and password.
- Complete your profile: personal details, academic and professional qualifications, work experience, professional bodies and referees. PSC says incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Choose the advert from the active list and apply.
- Print and keep the Feedback Report the system gives you.
You can change an application at any time before the advert closes. After the closing date you cannot.
The clearances senior posts ask for
Not every PSC job asks for these at application. The general advert of 22 September 2026 asked shortlisted candidates for originals of their national ID and their academic and professional certificates and transcripts. Senior, board and commission adverts in 2026 asked for clearances from:
- Kenya Revenue Authority: a tax compliance certificate. See our KRA compliance certificate guide.
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). See HELB clearance and settlement.
- A registered credit reference bureau. If you are listed, see how to get off CRB.
- Directorate of Criminal Investigations: a police clearance (good conduct) certificate. See our good conduct certificate guide.
Some of these take days or weeks. If you are aiming at senior posts, apply for them before an advert you want appears, not after.
The scams around PSC jobs
PSC's homepage warns about fraudsters posing as PSC staff and asking for money, and says its services are free. PSC's general and board adverts in 2026 state that it does not charge any fees for applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments. A message asking you to pay for a “slot”, a “form”, “processing” or a “medical” to secure a government job is a scam. See WhatsApp job scams.
