Where IEBC advertises
IEBC's jobs portal is jobs.iebc.or.ke, linked as Vacancies from the commission's website. It sorts jobs into three categories: By-Election Temporary Jobs, Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR), and Internal. When we checked, there were no permanent-staff, ICT or 2027 general-election posts on it. Those will appear there, and in the newspapers, when IEBC advertises them.
What IEBC paid temporary staff in 2026
The September 2026 by-election adverts gave these daily rates:
- Presiding Officer: KSh 2,000 a day.
- Support Electoral Trainer: KSh 2,000 a day.
- Deputy Presiding Officer: KSh 1,800 a day.
- Voter Educator: KSh 1,500 a day.
- Polling, queuing and counting clerk: KSh 1,000 a day.
These are short, temporary engagements tied to a single election. Rates for the 2027 general election have not been published.
What the adverts ask for
The 2026 clerk advert asked for a Kenyan citizen of high integrity who is non-partisan, with a KCSE aggregate of C- or above, resident in the ward where the election is held. Applications could be made online on jobs.iebc.or.ke or by letter to the Returning Officer at the constituency office. Keep your ID, KCSE certificate, CV and any previous election-work letters ready.
Fake IEBC adverts
In January 2026 IEBC warned the public to beware of fraudulent job adverts on social media and named jobs.iebc.or.ke as its official portal, as Kenyans.co.ke reported. Expect more fake adverts as 2027 gets closer: large numbers of posts, a WhatsApp link, and a fee for “registration” or “training”. A real IEBC advert sends you to the portal or a constituency office, not to a phone number that wants money. Kenyans.co.ke's report is the source for the January warning; IEBC's own pages carry no separate notice we could find. See WhatsApp job scams.
