Hakki Africa

Hakki's taxi finance page is the most complete published offer for ride-hailing drivers in Kenya. It finances 2016 or newer cars that meet Bolt's requirements, up to 80 percent of the value, with approval in about 24 hours. The weekly payment includes the application fee, excise duty, GPS tracking and comprehensive insurance for the first year only, so budget for the renewal in year two. You are a joint owner on the logbook from day one and get full ownership at the end of the term.

Requirements Hakki lists:

  • Age 23 to 55, with a driving licence held for at least 3 years
  • A PSV badge, or willingness to get one
  • Certificate of good conduct, ID, proof of address and KRA PIN
  • 6 months of M-PESA or bank statements

Hakki does not publish an interest rate. It says consistently missing weekly payments may affect your joint ownership and could lead to recovery of the vehicle, and that low-earning weeks are handled case by case. Ask for the total repayable over the full term before you sign. Hakki's Kenya site is hakki.co.ke.

Moove

Moove lists Nairobi among its live cities. Its global FAQ asks for age 21 or over, a valid licence and, in East Africa, a certificate of good conduct. It says there is no credit check, the car is maintained by Moove with monthly inspections, insurance is included, and a missed payment means the vehicle is immobilised and may be recovered. The same FAQ says there is no deposit and also that down payments are lost if you cancel, so get the Kenyan terms in writing. Moove is not on the CBK Digital Credit Providers directory.

General car loans

If you already drive and want your own car rather than a platform-linked deal, compare a general car loan. Mogo lends up to KES 1,000,000 over up to 24 months against a 50 percent down payment on its car loan page, with ID, KRA PIN, age 23 to 70 and 6 months of statements. Autochek listings show a 40 percent minimum down payment. A logbook loan is a different product: it borrows against a car you already own.

Checks before you sign

  1. Get the total repayable over the full term in writing.
  2. Ask what happens in a week the app pays you less, and whether any arrears carry a penalty.
  3. Ask who pays insurance after year one, and service costs.
  4. Confirm whose name goes on the logbook and when it transfers.
  5. Check the lender on the CBK licence checker.

FAQ

Which lender finances cars for Bolt drivers in Kenya?

Hakki Africa runs a published "Online taxi Driver Finance" product for Bolt drivers in Nairobi. It finances up to 80 percent of the car value, with a deposit of KES 50,000 to 90,000 (or KES 15,000 on its Hakki-Bolt Finance product), weekly repayments and a term of up to 42 months. Hakki is on the CBK Digital Credit Providers directory, licensed 10 April 2026.

Does Moove operate in Kenya?

Moove lists Nairobi as a live city. Its 2021 Kenya launch was about motorcycles for Uber delivery and UberBoda, repaid as a share of weekly income. We could not confirm which cars, prices or terms Moove offers in Kenya today, and Moove is not on the CBK Digital Credit Providers directory dated 29 September 2026.

Is the repayment taken straight from my Uber or Bolt earnings?

Neither Hakki nor Moove says so on its site. Hakki sizes a weekly repayment around your weekly driving earnings. Moove says payments go through its remittance portal. Ask the lender in writing how payment is collected and what happens in a low week.

Do I own the car at the end?

Hakki puts you on the logbook as a joint owner from day one and transfers full ownership when the term ends. Moove says the car is yours at the end of the term. Mogo and Autochek car loans transfer ownership once the loan is repaid.
