How KYC tiers work

Radabet, like every Kenyan operator, applies withdrawal ceilings by verification level.

  • Base tier (registered account, minimal KYC). Small daily withdrawal ceiling, usually a few thousand shillings. Enough to test the payout flow. Not enough to cash out a big win.
  • Verified tier (ID uploaded and confirmed). Ceiling rises significantly. Most regular users sit here.
  • Fully verified tier (ID + selfie + sometimes address proof). Ceiling rises to the M-PESA maximum: KES 250,000 per transaction, KES 500,000 per day.

Specific KES thresholds per tier can change and are set by the operator; check the account verification page for the ceiling on your account. The best time to upload documents is before you have a big win to withdraw, not after.

The M-PESA ceilings you cannot go around

These are Safaricom rules, not Radabet rules, and they apply to every payout.

  • Per transaction: KES 250,000 maximum.
  • Per day: KES 500,000 maximum inbound on a fully verified M-PESA account.
  • Wallet balance: KES 500,000 maximum; funds above this cannot land in M-PESA until you spend or transfer some down.

If your Radabet balance exceeds the daily M-PESA ceiling, split the withdrawal across multiple days, or move to a bank withdrawal option if Radabet offers one. Do not try to withdraw to an unverified M-PESA account; the funds bounce back and delay everything.

When Radabet holds a withdrawal for review

Radabet holds withdrawals when compliance checks flag them. Common triggers:

  • First large withdrawal. Standard first-time verification; the account has not previously moved this much money.
  • KYC not fully complete. ID upload missing or the selfie has not been reviewed yet.
  • Name mismatch. Safaricom SIM name and Radabet account name differ. Fix at either side (update the SIM registration at a Safaricom shop or the Radabet name via support with ID proof).
  • Unusual bet pattern. Very short holding time between deposit and withdrawal with no bets in between (a compliance flag under anti-money-laundering rules).
  • Deposit source under review. If a deposit came from a number not registered to you, the withdrawal may be held until source is confirmed.
  • VPN or offshore IP. Kenyan operators may hold withdrawals initiated from IPs outside Kenya pending confirmation you are the account holder.

How to resolve a hold:

  1. Log into Radabet and check the withdrawal status page for the specific reason.
  2. If it asks for KYC upload, upload immediately. Complete both sides of the ID and, if requested, a selfie.
  3. Contact support via in-app chat with your registered phone number and ID. Provide the specific withdrawal reference.
  4. Wait for the compliance team to review. Timelines: typically 4 to 24 hours; occasionally 48 to 72 hours for complex cases.

The 5 percent withdrawal excise

Finance Act 2025 imposes a 5 percent excise on every withdrawal from a Kenyan betting operator. It applies identically across every GRA-licensed operator (Radabet, Betika, SportPesa, Odibets, everyone). It is deducted from the withdrawal amount at the operator end.

Worked examples:

  • Request KES 1,000 → 5% excise = KES 50 → M-PESA receives KES 950.
  • Request KES 10,000 → 5% excise = KES 500 → M-PESA receives KES 9,500.
  • Request KES 100,000 → 5% excise = KES 5,000 → M-PESA receives KES 95,000.

On top of the excise, Safaricom applies M-PESA receive-money charges from the operator side (invisible to you). There is no withholding tax on winnings under the current structure; the 5% withdrawal excise replaced the earlier 20% withholding scheme.

Practical withdrawal tips

  • Complete full KYC on day one, before you need to withdraw.
  • Withdraw to the same registered Safaricom number. Deposits and withdrawals should match the account number for the fastest processing.
  • Test with a small withdrawal on your first payout. Confirm the flow works before pushing a large win through it.
  • Never withdraw via unverified intermediaries or third parties promising to speed things up. That is a scam pattern.

FAQ

What is the maximum I can withdraw from Radabet per day?

Two ceilings apply. The M-PESA per-transaction ceiling is KES 250,000 and the per-day ceiling on a fully verified M-PESA account is KES 500,000. Radabet applies its own tier ceilings on top; a fully KYC-verified account usually maxes out at the M-PESA cap.

Why is my withdrawal held for review?

Common triggers: first large withdrawal on the account, KYC not fully complete, mismatched name between Safaricom SIM and Radabet account, deposit source under review, or a suspicious-activity flag (unusual bet patterns, VPN use). Contact support with your ID number to resolve.

How long does a Radabet withdrawal usually take?

Small withdrawals under the auto-approval tier reach M-PESA in 1 to 5 minutes. Larger amounts pass through a manual review that typically takes 30 minutes to a few hours. First-time large withdrawals can take up to 24 hours while KYC is confirmed.

What documents unlock the higher tiers?

Standard KYC package: a clear photo of the front and back of your Kenyan National ID, and in some cases a selfie holding the ID next to your face. Some operators also request a recent utility bill or bank statement for very large withdrawals. Upload via the account verification page.

Can I withdraw to a bank account?

Radabet payouts default to M-PESA on the registered number. Bank withdrawals, where offered, require the account to be in your name. Speed and fee differ from M-PESA; check the withdrawal page for the current options.

Do withdrawal excise taxes apply?

Yes. Finance Act 2025 imposes a 5% excise on every withdrawal from a betting operator. The deduction is taken from your withdrawal, not added to it. Withdraw KES 1,000 and KES 950 lands in M-PESA. There is no withholding tax on winnings themselves under the current structure.

The withdrawal shows Completed on Radabet but nothing in M-PESA.

Wait 15 minutes; occasional Safaricom queues. Then check the transaction on the Radabet withdrawal history and look for a Safaricom reference code. Contact Radabet support with that code; they can trace the payout with Safaricom directly.
