Password reset, step by step

  1. On radabet.co.ke or the app, tap Login.
  2. Tap Forgot Password.
  3. Enter your registered Safaricom number in the format 07XXXXXXXX.
  4. Wait for the SMS. It arrives within 30 to 60 seconds under normal load.
  5. Enter the reset code (or tap the link in the SMS).
  6. Set a new password: 8+ characters, mix letters and numbers, avoid the phone number or your birth year.
  7. Log in with the new password.

If your Safaricom number changed

Your Radabet account is anchored to the Safaricom number you registered with. If you have changed lines (kept the same ID but new number), you cannot self-serve a phone update from the app because the OTP would go to the old number.

The recovery route:

  1. Contact Radabet support via the in-app chat or the support channel on radabet.co.ke.
  2. Provide your Kenyan ID number and, if requested, a clear photo of the ID.
  3. Provide the old and new phone numbers.
  4. Support verifies you against KYC records and updates the phone number.
  5. Log in with the new number and set a new password.

Timeline: usually under 24 hours, sometimes same-day. Do not open a second account; the ID cross-check will block it.

Account locked or frozen

Three types of lock. Each has a different fix.

  • Soft lock (failed logins). After 5 to 10 wrong password attempts, the account auto-locks for 15 to 30 minutes. Wait it out. Then reset the password rather than guessing again.
  • KYC lock. A larger deposit or withdrawal can trigger a KYC review. The account is not gone; support needs a document upload (ID front, ID back, sometimes a selfie holding the ID). Complete the KYC page and the lock lifts.
  • Security lock. Suspected compromise, terms-of-service violation, or a responsible-gambling flag. Contact support; the resolution path depends on the trigger and can take longer.

Two-factor authentication

If Radabet exposes 2FA in the security settings, turn it on. The mechanism is SMS-based: a login attempt after the password prompts for a one-time code, sent to your registered Safaricom number. It adds a few seconds to login and stops the vast majority of credential-stuffing attempts.

On a phone loss, disable 2FA via support before losing SIM access. If your phone is gone and you cannot receive the SMS, support can turn 2FA off after ID verification. Do not share the 2FA code with anyone.

If you think your account is compromised

  1. Immediately use Forgot Password to set a new password.
  2. Contact Radabet support to force-logout all sessions and freeze the account.
  3. Check your M-PESA statement for the last 7 days for anything unusual.
  4. Report unauthorised M-PESA activity to Safaricom on 100.
  5. If any lost funds are still recoverable, ask Radabet support to open a dispute and preserve logs.

FAQ

How do I reset my Radabet password?

On the login page tap Forgot Password. Enter your registered Safaricom number. Radabet sends an SMS with a reset code or a link. Enter the code, choose a new password of at least 8 characters, and log in.

The reset SMS is not arriving.

Wait 60 seconds and tap Resend. Confirm you have signal and are entering the correct number (07XXXXXXXX). Safaricom occasionally queues SMS under load; try again after 5 to 10 minutes. If it still fails, contact Radabet support with your ID number so they can verify you and reset it manually.

My Safaricom number changed. Can I still log in?

You cannot log in via the old number, but you can recover the account. Contact Radabet support with your Kenyan ID number and a scan of the ID. Support updates the phone number after ID verification. Do not open a new account; the ID is already tied to the old one and a second account will be blocked.

My account is locked. Why?

Common triggers: multiple failed password attempts (temporary lock, unlocks in 15 to 30 minutes), a KYC review flag, or a suspected security event. Contact Radabet support with your registered phone and ID to resolve. Do not repeatedly try to log in; that can extend the lock.

Does Radabet support two-factor authentication?

Where offered, 2FA on Radabet uses SMS OTP. Enable it in account settings. It adds a code prompt after your password, sent to your registered Safaricom line. It slows login by a few seconds and stops most compromise attempts cold.

Someone I do not know is logged into my account.

Change the password immediately (Forgot Password). Contact Radabet support and report the compromise; they can force-logout other sessions and freeze the account while they investigate. Check your M-PESA statement for unauthorised deposits or withdrawals and report to Safaricom on 100 if any appear.

How do I close my Radabet account permanently?

Contact support and request account closure. Under GRA rules, operators must action closure requests without commercial friction. You may also request self-exclusion for a fixed period (30 days, 6 months, or permanent) via the responsible-gambling settings.
