What you need before you start

  • A Kenyan National ID (or Passport if you are resident but not a citizen). Both first and last name must match the ID exactly.
  • A Safaricom number registered to that ID. Radabet cross-references the SIM registration name against your ID.
  • An email address if the form asks; useful for recovery.
  • You must be 18 or over on the day of registration.

Step-by-step registration

  1. Go to radabet.co.ke or open the app. If you have not installed the app, see the Radabet app download guide.
  2. Tap Register (top right on desktop, hamburger menu on mobile).
  3. Enter your Safaricom phone number in the format 07XXXXXXXX. No plus sign, no leading zero drop, no spaces.
  4. An SMS with a 4 or 6 digit OTP arrives within 30 seconds. Enter it in the OTP field.
  5. Set a password of at least 8 characters, mixing letters and numbers. Avoid your name, birth year, or the phone number itself.
  6. Enter your Kenyan National ID number, first name, last name, and date of birth as they appear on the ID.
  7. Tick the box confirming you are 18 or over and have read the terms.
  8. Tap Register. Your account is created immediately.

KYC tiers: what unlocks what

Basic registration lets you deposit via M-PESA paybill 4966000, place bets, and withdraw up to the operator's starter tier (typically capped at a few thousand shillings per day). Larger withdrawal ceilings require full KYC: an upload of the front and back of your ID and, in some cases, a selfie holding it.

Complete full KYC on the same day you register. It is faster than doing it under time pressure when a big win needs to withdraw, and Radabet occasionally has queues for KYC review that can add 24 to 72 hours. Details on tier ceilings live in the Radabet withdrawal limits guide.

Common failure modes and how to fix them

  • OTP not arriving. Check the number, wait 60 seconds, tap Resend. Do not open a second registration; the OTP is tied to the first attempt.
  • "ID already registered." Either you already have an account (use Forgot Password on the login screen) or your ID has been used by someone else. Contact Radabet support with a photo of your ID; they will unlock the correct account or escalate.
  • Name mismatch on withdrawal. Your Safaricom SIM name and your entered Radabet name must match. If they do not, withdrawals get held. Update either the SIM registration at a Safaricom shop or the Radabet name via support with proof.
  • Bank details rejected. Radabet payouts default to M-PESA on the registered number. Bank withdrawals, if offered, need the account to be in your name.
  • Age verification declined. If Radabet suspects an underage account (via ID cross-check), the account is closed and any funds returned to source. There is no workaround.

Before you finish

Set your deposit and loss limits from the responsible-gambling section as soon as the account is live. Doing it before you start losing money is the only time most people actually do it. Kenya's national gambling helpline is 1196; support is free.

FAQ

What documents do I need to open a Radabet account?

A Kenyan National ID (or Passport for non-Kenyans resident here), an active Safaricom number registered to that ID, and an email address if the form asks. You must be 18 or over. Radabet cross-references the ID with the phone number, so use the SIM registered to you.

Can I use my sister's ID or phone number?

No. That is a terms violation and will result in an account freeze and forfeiture of any balance. It also creates a legal problem for the person whose ID was used. Every account must be in the real name of the person who uses it.

The OTP is not arriving. What do I do?

Check that the phone number is correct (07XXXXXXXX, no country code needed for Safaricom). Wait 60 seconds and tap Resend. Confirm you have signal. If SMS is still not arriving, restart the phone or try again after 10 minutes; Safaricom occasionally queues SMS under load. Do not open a second registration in parallel.

Registration says my ID is already used. How?

Either you already have a Radabet account under this ID (recover it via Forgot Password), or someone used your ID to open one. Contact Radabet support with a copy of your ID; they can verify ownership and unlock or transfer the account.

Do I need to upload a photo of my ID?

Sometimes. Basic registration usually requires only the ID number and details typed in. Full KYC for larger withdrawals may require a photo of the ID and a selfie. Do this early via the account verification page; do not wait for a withdrawal to force it.

Can under-18s register?

No. Kenyan gambling law and Radabet terms bar under-18s. Attempted registration with an underage ID will be rejected. Any account discovered to belong to a minor is closed and funds are voided under GRA rules.

How long does registration take?

Usually 2 to 5 minutes. Add another few minutes for full KYC document upload if you do that at the same time. Basic registration lets you deposit and bet on smaller stakes immediately; higher withdrawal tiers unlock as KYC completes.
