What Premium costs in Kenya
Premium Individual is KSh 419 a month on a recurring subscription. Bought as prepaid time, which is how M-PESA works, it is KSh 429 for one month, KSh 1,259 for three months, KSh 2,499 for six months and KSh 4,190 for a year. The year works out at about KSh 349 a month, the cheapest way to pay if you are sure you will keep it. Spotify was also offering new Premium Individual users KSh 209 a month for six months, then KSh 419 a month; that offer ends on 31 October 2026.
Premium Duo, for two accounts, is KSh 549 a month on subscription. Prepaid it is KSh 559 for a month, KSh 1,649 for three months, KSh 3,299 for six months and KSh 6,599 for a year.
Premium Family is KSh 669 a month on subscription, or KSh 729 for one prepaid month.
Premium Student is KSh 209 a month after a free first month on subscription, or KSh 229 for one prepaid month.
Spotify lists a one-week M-PESA option, but its Premium page did not show the one-week price, so check the amount at checkout before you confirm.
How to pay with M-PESA
- Choose the Premium plan and the length of time you want.
- At checkout, choose M-Pesa as the payment method.
- Enter your M-PESA phone number.
- Confirm the prompt on your phone with your M-PESA PIN.
Spotify's payment-methods page says the options for your location appear after you pick a plan, so if you do not see M-Pesa, check that your account country is Kenya.
Prepaid is not a subscription
Because M-PESA is a pay-as-you-go option, Spotify will not take money from you again when your time runs out. Your Premium time simply ends until you buy more. That suits anyone who wants music for a month at a time. If you want it to run without thinking about it, a recurring card subscription is the alternative, and it is the cheaper monthly price.
