Shiriki Pay lets you give up to five people access to your M-PESA wallet for approved payments, with a monthly limit of up to KSh 20,000 each. The money stays in your wallet until they pay. It is live on *334# and in My OneApp, under Financial Services. Everything here is from Safaricom's Shiriki Pay FAQ, last updated 22 September 2026.
How it works
- You are the sponsor. You add beneficiaries by phone number and set a monthly limit for each.
- Up to 5 beneficiaries, each with a limit of up to KSh 20,000 a month that you can raise or cut at any time.
- No money moves in advance. It leaves your wallet only when a beneficiary completes a payment.
- A beneficiary can have up to 3 sponsors. When one sponsor's limit runs out, they can keep paying from another sponsor with limit left.
- Limits reset monthly. Once a beneficiary uses up a sponsor's limit, that wallet is closed to them until the start of the next month.
What a beneficiary can and cannot do
| Allowed | Not allowed |
|---|---|
| Send Money | Withdraw cash |
| Pay Bill | Use the sponsor's Fuliza |
| Buy Goods | See the sponsor's balance or history |
| Pay to Pochi la Biashara | Pay outside Kenya |
How to set it up
- Dial *334# and choose Shiriki Pay, or open My OneApp and go to Financial Services, then Shiriki Pay.
- Select Add Beneficiary and enter their phone number. They need an active M-PESA account.
- Set their monthly limit, up to KSh 20,000.
- Review the details and confirm with your M-PESA PIN.
Changing limits, removing someone, opting out
- Change a limit: adjust it any time for each beneficiary.
- Remove a beneficiary: on *334# choose Delete Shiriki Pay Beneficiary, or in My OneApp go to My Beneficiaries, then Manage, then Remove Beneficiary. Confirm with your PIN.
- See what was spent: only the sponsor can, on *334# under My Account or in the My OneApp statements.
- Opt out: remove every beneficiary first, then choose Opt Out on *334# or My OneApp and confirm with your PIN.
Safaricom says it may also remove a beneficiary under the service terms to keep the service secure.
Charges
Safaricom's FAQ does not list a fee for Shiriki Pay itself. It says a payment fails if your balance does not cover the amount and any applicable charges, so expect the normal M-PESA charge for the transaction a beneficiary makes, taken from your wallet. See M-PESA charges for the current tariff.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can I add on Shiriki Pay?
Up to five beneficiaries, according to Safaricom. A beneficiary can be linked to at most three sponsors at a time.
What is the Shiriki Pay limit?
You can give each beneficiary up to KSh 20,000 a month. You can raise or lower each limit at any time. Normal M-PESA transaction and daily limits still apply.
Does Shiriki Pay cost anything?
Safaricom's Shiriki Pay FAQ does not list a separate Shiriki Pay fee. It says your M-PESA balance must cover the amount and any applicable charges, so the usual M-PESA charge for the transaction type applies, paid from your wallet.
Can a beneficiary withdraw cash or use my Fuliza?
No. Shiriki Pay does not allow cash withdrawals, and a beneficiary cannot use the sponsor's Fuliza. If your balance is too low, the payment fails.
Can the beneficiary see my balance?
No. Beneficiaries cannot see the sponsor's balance, transaction history or other wallet details. Only the sponsor sees the history.
