Method 1, USSD `*234#`

Dial *234# from your registered Safaricom line.
Choose 5. M-PESA Info.
Choose M-PESA Statement.
Choose Mini-Statement (SMS, last 5) or Full Statement (email, any range up to 5 years).
Confirm the registered email on file, or update it.
Enter your M-PESA PIN.
Statement arrives by SMS (mini) or email PDF (full).

Method 2, My OneApp

Safaricom's My OneApp (rebranded 2026) gives instant statements in-app.

Open My OneApp and log in with biometric or PIN.
Tap Statements or Transaction History.
Pick the period (7 days, 30 days, 3 months, or custom).
Download PDF or tap Email Statement.

The PDF is password-protected, usually with your National ID number or DDMMYYYY of your birth date, the app tells you which.

Method 3, SMS to 456

Send the SMS STMT to 456. Confirm the follow-up prompt. Default period is 30 days, delivered to your registered email.

Method 4, Email Safaricare

For older statements (1 to 5 years) or specific date ranges:

Subject: “M-PESA Statement Request, [your phone number]”
Body: full name, ID number, phone, date range required
Attachment: scanned ID copy

Method 5, Safaricom Shop

For statements older than 5 years, or complex situations (legal, fraud), visit any Safaricom Shop with your original National ID. Free for personal use. Statements older than 7 years require special escalation.

Every transaction: date, time, type, amount, fee, counterparty, running balance
M-PESA reference code per entry (10 characters)

The PDF is password-protected. Default password is your ID number, or DDMMYYYY birthdate.

Common use cases

Visa applications

Most Western embassies (Schengen, UK, US, Canada, Australia) accept M-PESA statements as proof of financial means for Kenyan applicants. Best practice: 3 to 6 months plus a current balance certificate from a Safaricom Shop.

Loan applications

Banks, SACCOs, microfinance, and some digital lenders accept M-PESA statements as evidence of cash flow, especially for self-employed borrowers without payslips. Cover the last 3 to 6 months minimum.

Business accounting

Small businesses using paybill or Pochi for receipts use monthly statements for bookkeeping. Most accounting software (QuickBooks, Zoho Books) can import M-PESA PDFs.

Disputes and reversals

Do not share the PDF password in the same email as the file.
Do not upload full statements to public cloud folders.
Anyone asking for “your full M-PESA statement for verification” is likely a scam.

Common issues

“No transactions in this period”. Wrong date format. Use DDMMYYYY.
PDF will not open. Try Adobe Reader, avoid mobile previews.
Forgotten password. Try ID number first, then DDMMYYYY of DOB. Regenerate via *234# if still stuck.
Email statement missing. Check spam. Confirm registered email via *234# → M-PESA Info → Update Email.
