Since the government payments consolidation, registration, exemption, exam booking and renewal fees all go through the eCitizen gateway on paybill 222222, and the account number is the invoice number eCitizen generates for that specific fee. This catches people out because an older KASNEB paybill, 204777, is still quoted on directory sites and in forum posts years after it was closed. KASNEB warns candidates directly not to pay through any number other than the official one, because a payment to a closed or unrelated shortcode is not traceable to a candidate record and is not easy to recover.
