Outlier in Kenya: Why You Cannot Work on It From Here
By Josephine Njeri · Online jobs hub
Outlier is not open to people working from Kenya. Outlier, run by Scale AI, publishes the countries you may work from. Its guidelines, effective 15 July 2026, list Tanzania, South Africa, Egypt and others, but not Kenya. It also says VPNs are not permitted.
What Outlier is
The country rule
Outlier's flexible working guidelines list the countries you may work on Outlier from. On 16 October 2026 that list, effective 15 July 2026, included Tanzania, Malawi, Madagascar, Cameroon, South Africa and Egypt in Africa, and not Kenya. Outlier also asks for a valid ID and a mobile number from your country of residence, and says VPNs are not permitted.
So an Outlier account opened from Kenya, or bought from someone in a listed country, breaks Outlier's own rules and can be closed.
