Online Writing Jobs in Kenya (How to Start and Get Paid)

By Josephine Njeri · Online jobs hub

Online writing is one of the most reliable ways Kenyans earn online, because there is real demand for articles, blogs, product descriptions and marketing copy, and you can start with just a phone or laptop and good English. Pay ranges widely, from a few hundred shillings for a short article as a beginner to solid daily income once you have samples, ratings and repeat clients.

How to start

Build two or three sample pieces, create a profile on a freelance platform or pitch small businesses directly, take small jobs to build reviews, then raise your rate as your rating grows. Consistency and clear communication matter as much as the writing itself.

Getting paid

Clients abroad usually pay through global platforms or PayPal and Wise, which you move to M-PESA, and local clients can pay you directly. See the payout guide for the cheapest route, and note the KRA rules once you earn steadily.
