Academic and Freelance Writing Jobs in Kenya
By Josephine Njeri · Online jobs hub
Academic writing is a large online earner in Kenya, where writers handle research and writing tasks for clients abroad through agencies and accounts on academic platforms. It can pay well for fast, skilled writers, but it is worth understanding honestly, both how it works and its risks.
How it works
Writers work through an agency or a rented or owned account on an academic platform, pick tasks, meet deadlines, and get paid per task, usually in dollars moved to M-PESA through PayPal or Wise. Speed, quality and reliability determine your earnings and ratings.
The honest risks
Accounts can be suspended, some agencies pay poorly or late, account-rental arrangements carry real risk, and the work sits in an ethical grey area for the students who buy it. Go in clear-eyed, prefer direct and reputable arrangements, keep records, and never pay large upfront fees to join an agency.
Frequently asked
