T-Kash send money charges in 2026 range from Free (any amount up to KES 100) to KES 103 (any amount from KES 20,001 up to the KES 150,000 daily limit). The same schedule applies whether you send to another T-Kash wallet, to Airtel Money, or to M-PESA, because Central Bank of Kenya interoperability rules (in force since 2018) removed the cross-network penalty.

Cross-network sends (T-Kash to M-PESA, T-Kash to Airtel Money)

Kenya's three mobile money networks became formally interoperable under the Central Bank of Kenya in April 2018, letting subscribers on one network send directly to a wallet on another network. On T-Kash the journey is: dial *334#, select Send Money, then Send to any network, enter the recipient number (Safaricom or Airtel), enter the amount, enter PIN. The recipient receives an SMS from their own network operator with the credit reflected. There is no extra cross-network premium: the tariff table above applies.

Send money via *334# USSD

  1. Dial *334# on your Telkom line.
  2. Select Send Money.
  3. Choose Send to any network (works for T-Kash, Airtel Money, and M-PESA recipients).
  4. Enter the recipient number.
  5. Enter the amount. Sends under KES 100 are free.
  6. Enter your 4-digit T-Kash PIN. Confirm.
  7. Confirmation SMS arrives on both sides within seconds.

Honest comparison with M-PESA send fees

The T-Kash send schedule is essentially competitive with M-PESA on every band. On some rungs T-Kash is a shilling or two lower, on others M-PESA is. Under KES 100 both are free. Above KES 100 the two are close enough that fee differences alone do not settle the "which wallet" question. The choice comes down to which network your contacts, merchants and agents are on. Daily and per-transaction limits

  • Maximum single transaction: KES 250,000
  • Maximum daily transaction total: KES 500,000
  • Maximum wallet balance: KES 500,000

FAQ

How much does it cost to send KES 5,000 on T-Kash?

KES 57. That is the T-Kash send charge for the 3,501 to 5,000 KES band. You are deducted KES 5,057 total. The recipient wallet (T-Kash, Airtel Money, or M-PESA) receives the full KES 5,000. Receiving money is free on the recipient side.

Is it cheaper to send to another T-Kash user than to M-PESA?

No. Since 2018, when Central Bank of Kenya enabled interoperability, T-Kash charges the same send tariff whether the destination is another T-Kash wallet, an Airtel Money wallet, or an M-PESA wallet. The fee depends only on the amount, not the recipient network.

What is the T-Kash send money USSD code?

Dial *334# on your Telkom line. Choose Send Money, then Send to any network, enter the recipient number, enter the amount, enter your PIN. Confirmation SMS arrives on both sides within seconds.

Is there a minimum send amount on T-Kash?

KES 10 is the effective minimum on most menus, though the tariff table starts free from KES 1. Below the KES 100 mark, all sends are free. Above KES 100 the customer send fee kicks in.

Does the receiver pay anything to receive T-Kash?

No. Receiving money is free on T-Kash, whether the sender is on T-Kash, Airtel Money, or M-PESA. The sender pays the send tariff. The receiver bears no cost until they withdraw or spend the money.

Is T-Kash send money cheaper than M-PESA send money?

Roughly comparable. In the mid bands (KES 501 to 5,000) T-Kash is a shilling or two cheaper than M-PESA at some rungs, and roughly equal at others. On smaller amounts (under KES 100) both are free. The gap is small enough that agent access, merchant reach, and how many of your contacts are on which wallet matter more than the send fee itself.

What is the daily send limit on T-Kash?

KES 250,000 per single transaction and KES 500,000 total per day. Wallet balance is also capped at KES 500,000. These are platform limits; agents may impose lower ceilings for their own float management on cash-in and cash-out.
