How T-Kash tariffs work

T-Kash is Telkom Kenya's mobile money service, licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya. Same regulatory perimeter as M-PESA and Airtel Money, much smaller subscriber base. Because of CBK-enabled interoperability (in force since April 2018), T-Kash charges the same send-money tariff whether the recipient is on T-Kash, Airtel Money or M-PESA. The fee depends on the amount only, not on the destination network.

Deposits at a T-Kash agent are free. Receiving money from any network is free. Airtime purchase, balance checks and PIN changes are free. What you pay for is: sending money, withdrawing at an agent, paying a paybill, and bank-to-wallet or wallet-to-bank movement. Small transactions (up to KES 100) on send-money are free.

For a full walk-through of every category, see our T-Kash charges guide and the individual withdrawal, send money and paybill spokes.

Frequently asked

How much does it cost to send KES 5,000 on T-Kash?

KES 57. That is the T-Kash send-money fee for the 3,501 to 5,000 KES band. Total deducted from your wallet: KES 5,057. The recipient receives the full KES 5,000, whether they are on T-Kash, Airtel Money, or M-PESA.

How much does it cost to withdraw KES 5,000 at a T-Kash agent?

KES 67. That is the withdrawal fee for the 3,501 to 5,000 KES band. Net cash you receive at the agent: KES 4,933.

Are T-Kash send charges cheaper than M-PESA?

Roughly the same on most bands. The two schedules are within a few shillings of each other at most amounts, and both are free for sends up to KES 100. Agent access, merchant reach, and which network your contacts are on generally matter more than the fee difference.

Do T-Kash send fees vary by recipient network?

No. Since 2018, when the Central Bank of Kenya enabled full mobile money interoperability, T-Kash charges the same send fee whether the destination is T-Kash, Airtel Money, or M-PESA.

What is the maximum T-Kash transaction size?

KES 250,000 per single transaction. The daily limit is KES 500,000 total across all transactions. The wallet balance is capped at KES 500,000.
