Kisumu parking rates 2026
Daily street parking is charged by vehicle weight. A saloon or light vehicle up to 3 tons is KES 100 a day in Kisumu city, or KES 50 in the other sub-counties. A vehicle of 3.1 to 7 tons is KES 200 or KES 100. A vehicle over 7 tons is KES 300 or KES 150. Trailers and semi-trailers are KES 600. A monthly goods-vehicle sticker starts at KES 2,000. Reserved parking is charged per slot per year, from KES 100,000 for a light-vehicle slot up to KES 300,000 for trailers.
Clamping, towing and storage
A clamped vehicle costs KES 1,500 to release for a light vehicle up to 3 tons, KES 3,500 for 3.1 to 7 tons, and KES 4,500 above 7 tons, rising to KES 6,500 for trailers and KES 10,000 on the yellow line around the bus park. Breakdown towing is KES 4,000 to KES 10,000 by weight. Storage of an impounded vehicle is KES 1,000 a day.

What if you paid the wrong county or paybill
Kenyan county parking channels are separate per county. If you drove from Kiambu into Nairobi and paid the Kiambu paybill in the Nairobi CBD, the Nairobi marshal will still clamp because their system does not see your payment.
- Stop the bleed: pay the correct county channel for where the car is parked, right now, on your phone. That is the fastest way to clear or avoid a clamp. For Kisumu, that is *427# on your registered M-PESA line.
- Show both SMS to the marshal: the wrong-county SMS (proves intent to pay) plus the correct-county SMS (proves current compliance).
- Request a refund from the wrong county: visit the county revenue office with the M-PESA SMS, your ID, and your logbook. Refund processing usually takes 14 to 30 days and is not guaranteed.
- Keep both M-PESA SMS for at least 30 days. Report incorrect info if the paybill on this page did not match what the marshal accepted.
