The three products

Car financing: you choose a vehicle, pay a deposit and repay monthly, with the logbook held by Mogo until you finish. Logbook loans: you already own the car, you borrow cash against it, you keep and drive the car, and Mogo holds the logbook as security. Boda boda loans: motorbike financing on the same secured model. Mogo also refinances existing facilities.

What a car deal typically looks like

A car deal usually needs a deposit of roughly 20 to 30% of the vehicle value, repaid monthly over 12 to 48 months depending on the amount and term. Those bands are indicative and Mogo sets the actual rate per customer, so ask for the full schedule and the total payable before you sign, not just the monthly figure.

What you need for a logbook loan

The car's logbook in your own name, your national ID, your KRA PIN, and proof of income. Mogo values the car and lends a percentage of that value, so the valuation decides your limit. Apply at a Mogo branch or through the MyMogo app.

The risk, stated plainly

A logbook loan puts your car on the line. The logbook is the security, so sustained default leads to repossession, and if the car sells for less than you owe you can still be left with the balance. If your income drops, contact Mogo early and ask to restructure. Going quiet is what turns a missed month into a lost car.
