How to pay d.light

1. Open M-PESA, or dial *334#.
2. Choose Lipa na M-PESA, then Pay Bill.
3. Enter business number 215550.
4. Enter your d.light account number as the account.
5. Enter the amount, your PIN, and confirm.
6. Confirm the number on your own d.light paperwork before a large payment. Agents occasionally quote a different collection number.

d.light is not Sun King

These two get confused constantly, including in published guides. They are separate companies with separate paybills: d.light is 215550, Sun King is 323458. Paying the right amount into the wrong company's paybill leaves your own unit locked while a stranger's account is in credit, so check which brand is on your unit.

How to choose between d.light, Sun King and M-KOPA

Pricing across the three is close enough that it is rarely the deciding factor. What decides it is which agent network actually reaches you, because that is who installs the system, tops it up and repairs it when it fails. Ask neighbours which company has an agent nearby and how quickly that agent responds to a fault. A slightly cheaper system with no local agent is the worse deal.
