T-Kash
Also known as: T Kash, Telkom T-Kash, Telkom mobile money
Full definition
T-Kash is Telkom Kenya's mobile money service, evolved from Orange Money Kenya and rebranded in 2018. It is the third-network answer to M-PESA and Airtel Money, sitting on the Telkom SIM (prefixes 077x). Access is via *334# and the T-Kash app.
Core actions are the standard mobile-money set: register (free), Send Money to any T-Kash, M-PESA or Airtel Money number, Pay Bill (national paybill directory), Buy Goods on Lipa na M-PESA tills, Withdraw at Telkom agents or by pushing to a bank account through PesaLink. T-Kash tariff figures are published on tkash.telkom.co.ke and were re-verified on paybillke's T-Kash charges pages effective 1 September 2023, still current for FY26.
T-Kash market share is well behind M-PESA and Airtel Money; CBK and CAK quarterly stats show it in low single-digit share of transaction volume. It matters mostly to existing Telkom customers and as an interoperability endpoint.
Worked example
A T-Kash user dials *334#, chooses Send Money, enters an M-PESA number (Safaricom), enters KES 500, confirms with PIN. Cross-network transfer settles into the recipient's M-PESA wallet within a minute.
