Ethereum (ETH) in Kenya

By James Mwangi · Crypto hub

Ethereum (ETH) is the second-largest cryptocurrency and the platform that hosts most stablecoins, DeFi apps and NFTs. For a Kenyan user, ETH is bought either as a speculative asset or as gas to interact with the Ethereum network. Buy the same way you buy BTC: Binance P2P for price, a local on-ramp for ease.

How to buy

Same routes as BTC. P2P for price, Yellow Card or Luno for ease. Watch for network fees when you send ETH between wallets, those move with congestion.

Why hold it

Speculation, or because you want to use Ethereum-based apps. If you are only interested in a stable dollar-priced asset, hold USDT instead.

Trade-offs

Volatile like Bitcoin, sometimes more so. Gas fees can bite on small transfers.
