Binance P2P with M-PESA, Step by Step

By Aisha Hassan · Crypto hub

Binance P2P is a peer-to-peer marketplace inside Binance where you trade directly with another user, and Binance holds the crypto in escrow until both sides confirm. In Kenya it is almost always paired with M-PESA: you send KES to the seller, they release the crypto to your Binance wallet.

The buy flow, step by step

Open Binance, tap P2P, choose Buy, pick USDT or BTC, set the currency to KES and payment to M-PESA. Filter by the highest completion rate and reasonable order limits. Tap an offer, enter the amount, and press Buy. Binance locks the seller's crypto in escrow. Now you send M-PESA to the number the seller shows in the chat, using the exact reference. When your M-PESA confirmation SMS arrives, tap Transferred inside Binance. The seller confirms, and the crypto lands in your Binance wallet.

The sell flow

Same idea, reversed. You post a sell offer or take a buy offer. Once the buyer marks paid, wait for the M-PESA confirmation on your phone. Only then release the coins. Never release before your own SMS is in.

Where scams happen

Fake screenshots, edited SMS forwards, and chargeback threats. The rule is one line long: your own M-PESA phone must show the money before you release. Everything else is noise. Report any pressure to release before payment lands.
