Betting payout calculator (Kenya, 2026)

Single bet, multi-leg accumulator or jackpot share: see your net payout after the 5% deposit excise, the 20% withholding tax on winnings brought back by the Finance Act 2026, and the 5% withholding tax on money paid out. Jackpot mode also shows your actual chance of winning. The same tax rules apply to every Kenyan licensed operator.

Gambling is for adults aged 18+ only.

Only play with money you can afford to lose. paybillke does not confirm licences: GRA publishes no register. Check what the operator prints about its licence, and confirm on gra.go.ke before depositing. If gambling is becoming a problem, support is available. Call the GRA helpline on 0800 723 770.

Kenyan betting tax model (Finance Act 2026, in force 1 July 2026): 5% excise on deposits (paid funding the wallet, shown as a context line), no tax on the stake itself, 20% withholding tax on winnings (worked out here on your profit), and 5% withholding tax on money paid out. Operators may apply these in a different order or base, so treat the result as an estimate and check your bet statement. The probability model assumes per-game outcomes are independent; in practice matches in the same round are a little correlated.

How this calculator works

Pick a mode, enter your numbers, and the calculator runs the payout through the current Kenyan tax rules step by step.

Single bet mode

One stake, one set of odds: stake × odds = gross winnings. The stake is not taxed. The 5% deposit excise was paid when you funded the account; turn on the deposit line to see the all-in cost.

Accumulator mode

Several legs in one bet, and every leg must win. The odds multiply across legs (2.0 × 1.8 × 2.2 = 7.92), and the gross payout is stake × combined odds. Supports 2 to 20 legs.

Jackpot share mode

For fixed-pool jackpots. Enter the announced pool and the number of winners; each share is pool ÷ winners, then the 20% and 5% withholding taxes come off.

Three worked examples

Example 1: single bet

You stake KES 500 at odds of 2.10.

  • Deposit needed to have KES 500 to stake: about KES 526 (5% excise)
  • If it wins: 500 × 2.10 = KES 1,050 gross
  • 20% withholding tax on the KES 550 profit: KES 110
  • 5% withholding tax on the KES 940 left: KES 47
  • Net paid out: KES 893

Example 2: three-leg accumulator

You stake KES 200 on three legs at 1.80, 2.00 and 1.50. Combined odds: 5.40.

  • If all three win: 200 × 5.40 = KES 1,080 gross
  • 20% withholding tax on the KES 880 profit: KES 176
  • 5% withholding tax on the KES 904 left: KES 45.20
  • Net paid out: KES 858.80

Example 3: jackpot share

A KES 250,000,000 pool with two winners: each share is KES 125,000,000.

  • 20% withholding tax: about KES 25,000,000
  • 5% withholding tax on the rest: about KES 5,000,000
  • Net paid out: about KES 95,000,000

A payout this size is normally paid to a bank account rather than M-PESA. The tax is the same either way.

Responsible gambling reminder

The calculator shows what you get if you win. A pure guess on a 17-game jackpot is about 1 in 129 million. Add up what you staked over the last 12 months and what you won back; if staked is bigger, betting is costing you.

GRA runs a self-exclusion process and a toll-free line, 0800 723 770. See also our responsible gambling guide.
