Co-op School Codes: Find Your School's Fees Code

By Arnold Ochieng · School Fees Kenya hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with School Fees Kenya.

To pay school fees to a Co-op school account by M-PESA, you use paybill 400222 and an account made of the school code and the student number joined by a hash, for example 1059#123456789, with no spaces. The school code is a number Co-op assigns each institution, and Co-op publishes an updated directory of every school and its code.

How the codes work

Each institution has a short numeric school code. In Co-op's own directory, code 4 is Kenyatta University, code 10 is St Pauls Amukura High School, and code 85 is Maseno Girls Boarding School. Codes range from single digits into the tens of thousands as the list grows. Your school's code goes before the hash, and the student admission number after it, as the paybill account.

How to find your code

Ask the school bursar, who will give you the exact code and format, or check Co-op's official updated schools codes directory, which lists every institution with its code. Always confirm the code matches your exact school, since names repeat and a wrong code sends fees to the wrong institution.
