Business One Account: one shortcode that collects and disburses
By David Wachira · Safaricom services hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with Safaricom services.
The Business One Account lets an organisation use one Lipa na M-PESA shortcode to both collect and disburse, instead of running separate tills and paybills. It splits into a store number where payments are received and a head office number where money is managed and withdrawn.
Why the store and head office split matters
What a registered business gets that a personal line cannot
- Operator roles. Staff take payments under their own access, so every transaction is attributable.
- Clean statements. Business takings are separated from personal money, which is what makes accounts and tax returns possible.
- Controlled settlement. Money moves to your bank on a schedule you set.
- A business identity on the payment. Customers see the business name, not a personal one.
