SACCO Dividends in Kenya (2026)

By Aisha Hassan · SACCO hub

In Kenya, a SACCO pays two things each year. Dividend on shares is paid on your share capital contribution and is set at the AGM. Interest on deposits is paid on your non-withdrawable deposit balance. Both are declared after the financial year and paid after the AGM, typically March to June. Dividend advance is a partial early payout offered by some SACCOs.

Dividend on shares vs interest on deposits

Dividend is a percentage return on your share capital, which is not withdrawable while you remain a member. Interest is paid on your deposit balance (savings). Both are set at the AGM. Some SACCOs pay both, some primarily one or the other.

When SACCOs pay

Most SACCOs hold the AGM between March and June, and pay the declared dividend and interest to your account soon after. Exact timing depends on the SACCO's financial year and AGM date.

How dividend advance works

Some SACCOs offer a dividend advance ahead of the AGM. You receive part of the expected dividend early, and the balance is settled once the AGM approves the full rate. Not every SACCO offers this every year, so confirm with your SACCO.

Known rates (with caveats)

Historical SACCO dividend rates in Kenya sit broadly in the range of 5% to 15% on share capital, with interest on deposits often lower. Actual figures vary by SACCO and year. This page does not quote a specific SACCO's rate without a cited AGM circular; see the per-SACCO dividend pages for those where a source is available.
