FAQ

Is Platinum Credit licensed in Kenya?

Yes. Platinum Credit Limited is registered under the Companies Act and licensed as a Digital Credit Provider (DCP) by the Central Bank of Kenya. The public DCP register is at centralbank.go.ke/digital-credit-providers. Platinum is not a bank and does not appear on the CBK PSP list. Platinum Credit also operates regionally through the Platcorp group in Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

What do I need to apply for a Platinum Credit logbook loan?

Original vehicle logbook, national ID, KRA PIN, three to six months of bank or M-PESA statements, one utility bill and two guarantors. Platinum then arranges a valuation before making a written offer.

What happens if I default on a Platinum Credit loan?

Missed instalments trigger written reminders and then a formal notice under the Chattels Transfer Act before enforcement. Platinum is bound by the CBK Digital Credit Providers code of conduct requiring written notice and a reasonable cure window before repossession. Arrears also flow to the credit reference bureaus.

Can I still drive my car during a Platinum Credit logbook loan?

Yes. The logbook is held by Platinum as security for the loan term but the vehicle remains in your possession and daily use throughout.

How much can I borrow with a Platinum Credit logbook loan?

Up to 60 percent of the forced sale value (not the market value) of your vehicle. Forced sale value is what the vehicle would fetch at a distressed auction, typically 70 to 80 percent of market value, so the effective loan-to-value against market value is usually 40 to 50 percent.

How fast is Platinum Credit disbursement?

Typically one to two working days end to end for logbook loans; same day is possible for repeat customers with a fresh valuation on file. The salary advance product on *619# is designed for near-instant top-ups.

What other products does Platinum offer?

Civil servant loans and TSC loans (the flagship since 2002), logbook loans, personal loans, asset finance, import duty finance, landlord loans, SME loans and a salary advance of up to KES 10,000 accessed via *619# on Safaricom or 0709 900 000 or 0730 900 000.
