Other Annotation and Micro-Task Platforms in Kenya

By Josephine Njeri · Online jobs hub

Remotasks stopped operating in Kenya in March 2024, but it was never the only option. Appen (now CrowdGen), Clickworker, Toloka and similar platforms run data labelling, short tasks, search evaluation and content rating. Each says it is free to join. We have not tested a payout to a Kenyan account on any of them, so check each platform's own country and payment pages before you start, and register on more than one because task flow varies.

Platforms worth knowing

Appen hires remote crowd workers for data and evaluation projects, often with an application and a qualification step, and now runs its contributor community on CrowdGen, which is the same platform renamed. Clickworker offers short micro-tasks and text work. Toloka pays for small tasks and data work. Availability and pay differ by project and change over time, so confirm what is open when you sign up.

How to use them well

Register on two or three genuine platforms, read each one's own country and payment pages, complete their qualifications, and follow task instructions precisely, since accuracy is everything. Treat any joining fee as a scam.
