Co-op Bank E-Loans: Borrow up to KES 1 Million

By Arnold Ochieng · Co-operative Bank Kenya hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with Co-operative Bank Kenya.

If you hold a salary or business account at Co-op Bank, you can borrow an instant mobile loan of up to KES 1 million through the Co-op Bank app, with no forms, no calls and no security. It is one of the higher instant-loan ceilings among Kenyan banks, which makes it useful for real needs like school fees or stock.

How to check your limit and apply

  1. Register free on the Co-op app or *667#.
  2. Log in and go to E-loans, then Check Limit.
  3. Tap Apply Loan and follow the steps.
  4. The money lands in your Co-op app wallet, your mobile number with a 1 at the end.
  5. Transact from the wallet, or move it to your salary or business account.

The fees

Co-op's E-Credit salary loan carries an appraisal fee of 8%, 10% or 12% depending on tenure, plus insurance of 0.034% per month. The E-Credit business loan carries a 3% appraisal fee, interest of 4% per month, and insurance of 0.034% per month. So the cost depends on which facility you qualify for and how long you take it.

Borrow sensibly

A high limit is not a reason to max it. Borrow what the need requires and what your income can clear. Used well, an e-loan bridges a genuine gap without the paperwork of a branch loan.
