Co-op Bank Accounts and Cards, Including CoopPay
By Arnold Ochieng · Co-operative Bank Kenya hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with Co-operative Bank Kenya.
Co-op Bank has accounts for individuals, businesses, groups and Saccos, and a card range that includes a standout prepaid pocket-money card. Here is how to choose.
Accounts
Personal current and savings accounts, salary and business accounts that unlock the app e-loan, group and Sacco accounts, youth and children accounts like YEA and Jumbo Junior, and executive banking for premium customers. Many savings and youth accounts carry no monthly maintenance fee.
Cards
The Co-op Visa debit card pays for goods anywhere you see the Visa sign, in Kenya and abroad, deducting only what you spend and protected by your PIN, with a maintenance fee of KES 200 per year. The CoopPay Card is a Visa prepaid pocket-money card you load and give a child for canteen spending, loadable via M-PESA paybill 400200 with the account as capital P followed by the card account, with an SMS on every use and mini statements at any Co-op ATM or agent. You do not need a Co-op account to get a CoopPay card, just apply at a branch with your ID copy and KRA PIN.
How to choose
Salary or business earners should hold the account that unlocks the e-loan, savers a savings account, and parents should consider CoopPay for safe school spending. Sacco members bank through the cooperative accounts.
