SasaPay API: How Developers Integrate Payments
By David Wachira · SasaPay hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with SasaPay.
SasaPay exposes a full payments API, which is how businesses collect and disburse inside their own systems and how other platforms build wallets on SasaPay rails. It is a genuine developer product, not just a consumer wallet.
What the API covers
Customer to Business for collections, Business to Customer for payouts, Business to Business for supplier payments, SasaPay Checkout for a hosted paying experience, Remittance, Utilities for bill payments, and Wallet as a Service so a platform can issue its own wallets. It also documents authentication, channel codes, account validation, transaction status, balance, and secure callbacks.
The integration flow
- Register as a SasaPay merchant and submit KYC for review.
- On the developer portal, create a sandbox application with a name and a callback URL to receive results, and get your test Client ID and Secret.
- Build and test against the sandbox until every flow works.
- Create a production application, verify with the OTP sent to the merchant phone and email, and receive your live Client ID and Secret.
Good practice
Always verify callbacks using the documented callback security, handle the results codes properly, and check transaction status rather than trusting a single callback. Developer support is at technical@viewtech.co.ke or +254 111 045 400.
