Signing in to eCitizen, and what to do when it will not let you
By Michael Mwangi · eCitizen hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with eCitizen.
eCitizen sign-in happens at accounts.ecitizen.go.ke. It is a single account for every government service: register once with your ID number and the same login carries you into NTSA, KRA, immigration, the DCI, civil registration and the rest. If you already have an account, you do not need a second one for a new service.
One account, every agency
This is the part people get wrong most often, and it wastes the most time. eCitizen is not a website per agency. It is a single sign-on: one login, one unified citizen profile, and your records from across government visible in one place.
So if you created an eCitizen account years ago to apply for a passport, that is the same account you use today for a driving licence, a good conduct certificate or a KRA service. Creating a second account against the same ID is the usual cause of “my records are not showing”.
Kenyan citizens and residents register with an ID number. The platform states it carries over 22,000 government services from more than 100 ministries, counties, departments and agencies.
Where to actually sign in
- Go to ecitizen.go.ke. You will be taken to accounts.ecitizen.go.ke, which is the sign-in system and is the correct destination, not a redirect to worry about.
- Choose Sign in if you have an account, or Register if you do not.
- Registering uses your ID number as the anchor, so have it to hand.
- Once in, use the search box at the top: it searches by service name, ministry, department or agency, which is faster than hunting through the agency tiles.
The access problems that are worth knowing about
Two accounts against one ID. By far the most common. Applications and payments attach to whichever account made them, so a second account looks empty. Recover the original rather than working around it.
Wrong agency portal. NTSA appears on eCitizen twice, as NTSA (New) and NTSA (Old), because driving licence and TIMS services were split across a migration. A record created on one does not necessarily appear on the other. Check which one your application was made on before concluding it has vanished.
Looking for a county that is not there. Only some counties are on eCitizen. As of 13 September 2026 the platform lists Mombasa (001), Meru (012), Tharaka-Nithi (013), Embu (014), Kajiado (034), Bomet (036) and Kisumu (042). If yours is not on that list, its services are not on eCitizen and you are looking in the wrong place.

About this page
Frequently asked
What is the eCitizen login page?
accounts.ecitizen.go.ke. Going to ecitizen.go.ke takes you there, which is normal and not a redirect to be suspicious of.
Do I need a separate account for each government service?
No. eCitizen is one account for all of them. Creating a second account against the same ID is the usual reason records appear to be missing.
How do I register on eCitizen?
On accounts.ecitizen.go.ke, choose Register. Kenyan citizens and residents register with an ID number.
My application is not showing on eCitizen.
Check you are in the right account, and for driving licence or TIMS matters check whether it was made on NTSA (New) or NTSA (Old). Both are listed separately on the platform.
Is my county on eCitizen?
Only some are. On 13 September 2026 the platform listed Mombasa, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kajiado, Bomet and Kisumu.
