What you can actually do on eCitizen, agency by agency

eCitizen carries over 22,000 government services from more than 100 ministries, counties, departments and agencies. The eight services the platform itself puts on its front page are passport, driving licence, KRA services, birth certificate, certificate of good conduct, affordable housing, business registration and marriage certificate.

The agencies on the platform

Read directly off accounts.ecitizen.go.ke on 13 September 2026:

  • National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) — New: driving licence application and renewal, driving school management, PSV services.
  • National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) — Old: the earlier platform, still listed. Motor vehicle registration, transport licensing, inspection, driver testing.
  • Business Registration Services: company and business name registration.
  • Directorate of Immigration Services — New Applications: ePassport, temporary permits, eTA.
  • Directorate of Immigration Services — eTA Applications: the electronic travel authorisation for visitors to Kenya.
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigations: police clearance, the certificate of good conduct.
  • Kenya Revenue Authority: tax and customs services.
  • Civil Registration Services: birth and death registration.
  • Registrar of Marriages: marriage registration.
  • National Registration Bureau: national ID registration, under the Registration of Persons Act.
  • Kenya Wildlife Service: park entry and bookings.
  • Boma Yangu: the Affordable Housing Programme.
  • Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS): standards, metrology and conformity assessment.
  • National Council for Persons with Disabilities.
  • Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO).

The counties that are on it

County services are only on eCitizen where the county has joined. On 13 September 2026 the platform listed seven:

Mombasa (001), Meru (012), Tharaka-Nithi (013), Embu (014), Kajiado (034), Bomet (036) and Kisumu (042).

If your county is not there, its land rates, parking, permits and cess are collected on the county's own paybill instead. Our county parking directory and county pages cover those separately.

Why NTSA appears twice

Worth understanding before you go looking for a record. NTSA services were migrated to a new platform, and eCitizen lists both the new and the old system as separate agencies. A licence application, a TIMS record or a fine can sit on either. If something is not where you expect it, check the other one before assuming it was lost.

What eCitizen does not do

It is a front door, not the agency. Payment through eCitizen clears the fee; the agency still processes the application on its own timeline, and several services keep an in-person step for biometrics, collection or verification. Passports and good conduct both work this way. Budget for the appointment, not just the payment.

Yes, Kenya Revenue Authority is listed as an agency on the platform. Its own iTax portal at itax.kra.go.ke still handles PIN registration and the checkers.

Why are there two NTSA entries on eCitizen?

Services were migrated to a new NTSA platform and both the new and old systems remain listed. A record can sit on either one.

Can I get a national ID on eCitizen?

The National Registration Bureau, which administers ID registration under the Registration of Persons Act, is on the platform.
