DTB cards: how to pay them and what you can withdraw

Two paybills almost nobody publishes. Repay a DTB credit card on paybill 584429, with your mobile number followed by the last four digits of the card as the account. Top up a DTB prepaid card on paybill 505151, with the last six digits of the card serial as the account.
Paying a DTB credit card from M-PESA
Paybill 584429. The account field is the combination of your mobile number and the last four digits of the card, run together, in the form 254712345678xxxx.
Two things people get wrong here. The mobile number goes in 254 format, not 07. And there is no space or separator between the number and the four digits. DTB says the amount reflects by end of day, not instantly, so do not leave a card payment to the afternoon of the due date.
Topping up a DTB prepaid card from M-PESA
Paybill 505151. The account field is the last six digits of the card serial number. The serial begins with DTB0DTB, which is how you know you are reading the right number off the card rather than the card number itself.
Unlike the credit card, DTB says prepaid top-ups reflect immediately. That makes the Multicurrency Prepaid Card genuinely usable for travel, since you can top it up from M-PESA while you are abroad.

ATM withdrawal limits, which differ by card
DTB publishes three different daily maximums at its own ATMs, and they are further apart than most people expect:
- Debit card: KES 70,000
- Credit card: KES 40,000
- Prepaid card: KES 20,000
Cardless withdrawal is capped at KES 40,000 a day, even though it is initiated against your debit card. So if you need more than 40,000 in cash, take the physical card.
Cardless withdrawal, step by step
- On the app: the three dots at the bottom, then cardless withdrawal. Or on *382#: Move money, then withdraw from ATM.
- Select the account to debit, enter the amount and your PIN.
- A 6-digit OTP arrives by SMS.
- At the ATM, choose Cardless services, then Cash withdrawal.
- Enter the OTP, then the mobile number, then the amount. Confirm and collect.
