Find your NBK school code
National Bank collects school fees on one paybill, 625625. What changes is the account field, and it is built from a five-digit code the bank assigns each school account. Search all 12,266 of them below.
Paybill is always 625625. Only the account changes.
Type at least two letters of the school's name as it appears on the fee structure. Spelling in the bank's directory is often abbreviated, so search the distinctive word: “Kosirai” rather than “A.I.C. Kosirai Girls Secondary School”.
How the account field is built
- 1Find the school below and note its five-digit school code.
- 2On M-PESA choose Lipa na M-PESA, then Pay Bill, and enter business number 625625.
- 3In the account field type SCH, then the school code, then the pupil's admission number, with no spaces or dashes between them.
- 4Check the confirmation SMS names the school before you treat the fee as paid.
Three ways this goes wrong
Paying the right school, the wrong account
Most schools hold several NBK accounts, each with its own code: tuition, development or building fund, textbooks, PTA. The search returns them all, named exactly as the bank names them. Read the account name, not just the school name. Money in the building-fund code is not lost, but it does not clear the tuition balance until someone at the school moves it.
Typing the 14-digit bank account
NBK's own directory prints a 14-digit internal account number right beside the school code. It is for bank transfers, not M-PESA, and it is the longest, most official-looking number on the row: which is exactly why people type it. We leave it out of this page on purpose. If you are on M-PESA, the only number you need from us is the five-digit code.
Searching the full official name
The bank abbreviates: “Secondary” becomes “Sec”, “Primary” becomes “Pri”, and A.I.C. appears as both “A.i.c” and “Aic”. Search one distinctive word: the place name usually: rather than the name as printed on the fee structure. The search ignores punctuation, so either spelling finds the school.
Questions people ask
- What is the NBK school fees paybill number?
- 625625. It is the same for every school banking with National Bank of Kenya. Only the account field changes from school to school, and from pupil to pupil.
- What do I put in the account number field for NBK school fees?
- SCH, then the school's five-digit NBK school code, then the pupil's admission number, run together with no spaces. A school with code 26065 and a pupil with admission number 12345 gives SCH2606512345.
- My school has several NBK accounts. Which one do I pay into?
- Match the account name to what you are paying. National Bank lists separate accounts for tuition, building or development fund, textbooks, PTA and operations, each with its own school code. Paying tuition into the building-fund code credits the wrong ledger, and the school has to move it manually. If the fee structure does not say, ask the school bursar which code covers the item.
- Is the long account number on the NBK list what I type into M-PESA?
- No. National Bank publishes a 14-digit internal account number beside each school code. That number is for bank transfers and cheques, not for M-PESA. The M-PESA account field takes SCH plus the school code plus the admission number. This page deliberately does not show the 14-digit number, because it sits next to the code on the bank’s own page and is the single most common thing people type by mistake.
- My school is not in the list. What now?
- Two likely reasons. The spelling in the bank’s directory may be abbreviated differently from the name on the fee structure, so try one distinctive word rather than the full name. Or the school does not bank with NBK at all, in which case ask the school which bank and paybill it uses: Equity, KCB and Co-operative Bank each run their own school-fees paybill.
- How current is this list?
- It is a full copy of the directory National Bank publishes on its own school-fee-payment page, read on 12 September 2026: 12,266 accounts across 59 branches. NBK adds schools over time, so if yours is missing, check the bank’s page directly before concluding it does not bank there.
