Showmax has closed: what happened to paybill 4081010

By Josephine Njeri · MultiChoice Kenya hub · paybillke is an independent guide and is not affiliated with MultiChoice Kenya.

Showmax closed on 30 April 2026. New subscriptions and renewals stopped on 31 March, and its shows moved to a Showmax section inside DStv Stream. There is no Showmax subscription left to pay, so do not send money to paybill 4081010 for Showmax.

What happened

MultiChoice shut Showmax down after 11 years, citing losses. Showmax Originals and some other titles moved into DStv Stream. Subscriptions were not moved across: a former Showmax subscriber needs a DStv Stream account of their own. Subscribers with unused paid time could ask for a refund. The Showmax website no longer loads.

If you want the same shows

  1. Open DStv Stream from dstv.com/en-ke or the DStv app.
  2. Create a DStv Stream account. Your old Showmax login does not carry over.
  3. Pay for DStv Stream through DStv, not through the old Showmax paybill.

If money left your M-PESA for Showmax after it closed

Keep the M-PESA confirmation SMS. Contact MultiChoice Kenya through dstv.com/en-ke with the transaction code and ask for a refund. Safaricom can only reverse a payment the receiving business agrees to return.
