What the P9 actually is
The P9 is a one-page certificate showing, for one tax year, your monthly gross pay, statutory deductions, reliefs claimed, taxable income, and PAYE remitted. KRA expects it as the supporting document for your annual return on iTax.
When you need to compile your own
- Self-employed filers preparing their iTax return
- Diaspora returnees reconstructing income for partial-year filing
- Gig workers with multiple irregular income sources
- Employees whose employer hasn't issued one by the 31 January deadline
What this tool produces
Type your gross salary for each of 12 months (or use "Fill 12 months from constant gross" if you earned the same amount each month). Add any pension, insurance, or mortgage-interest deductions. We compute monthly PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, Housing Levy, and net pay using the same engine as our PAYE calculator, fully Finance Act 2025-compliant.
When you click Print / Save as PDF, the tool collapses the page chrome and renders just the P9 grid + identification panel + totals. Save as PDF in your browser print dialog.
What this is not
This is a self-prepared summary, not an official KRA-issued P9. For tax disputes or audit, the official document from your employer is what KRA accepts. For self-employed filers, this tool's output is what you'd attach to your iTax return as supporting documentation.
